ACC-5, Automatic Current Control

Class IIIa red laser modules from Z-Bolt®. Choice of either ACC or APC circuit.

The ACC-5 circuit is Automatic Current Control or constant current. The ACC laser diode drive circuit operates the laser diode without a photodiode feedback loop ( APC ), the laser diode is simply driven at constant current. The optical output will fluctuate as the laser diode temperature changes and/or battery power fluctuates. Lesser output power stability than APC.

APC-5, Automatic Power Control

The APC-5 circuit is Auotmatic Power Control. The APC laser diode drive circuit is based on a photodiode feedback loop. The photodiode monitors the optical output and provides a control signal for the laser diode, helping to maintain the diode operation at a constant optical output level. Provides a more stable level of power output stability based upon a solar cell. . . eg: maintains an output of > 3 mW output +/- 5% stability.
